Job Description
The Data Protection Officer (DPO) is responsible for overseeing the company's data protection strategy and its implementation to ensure compliance with data protection laws, including the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and any other applicable data privacy laws. The DPO will work across departments to ensure that personal data is handled securely and in line with current legislation and best practices.
Job Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in law, information technology, data management, or a related field.
In-depth understanding of GDPR, CCPA, and other relevant data protection laws.
Certification as a Data Protection Officer (e.g., CIPP/E, CIPM, CIPT) is preferred.
Experience in data protection, privacy, and compliance roles, ideally in a regulated industry.
Strong understanding of information security frameworks and best practices.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to advise and influence stakeholders at all levels.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
Experience with data protection tools and software (e.g., encryption, data discovery).
Skills Required
3-5 years of experience in a privacy, compliance, or data protection role.
Knowledge of sector-specific regulations (e.g., HIPAA, PCI-DSS, etc.).
Experience in incident response and data breach management.
Legal or regulatory background is a plus.
