The Building Inspector is responsible for conducting inspections of residential, commercial, and industrial buildings to ensure they meet local, state, and federal building codes, zoning regulations, and safety standards. The role involves reviewing construction plans, inspecting ongoing construction projects, and verifying that structures adhere to all applicable codes and regulations.

Education: High school diploma or GED required. A degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or a related field is preferred.
Experience: Previous experience as a building inspector, contractor, or construction supervisor is highly preferred.
Certifications: Must hold a valid certification such as International Code Council (ICC) certification, or be willing to obtain certification within a specified timeframe.
Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of local, state, and federal building codes, zoning regulations, and safety standards.
Skills: Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to interpret blueprints and construction plans. Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
License: A valid driver’s license is required for traveling to inspection sites.

Ability to work both indoors (reviewing plans, reports) and outdoors (construction sites), often in varied weather conditions.
Must be able to navigate construction sites, including climbing ladders, scaffolding, and working at heights.
